Whilst studying in Norway in late 2002, Ilsa spent many weeks learning how to lathe turn wood. Combining this traditional craft process with a range of reduction tools, Ilsa was able to create these fluid female forms, initially in hardwood. Their human like qualities led Ilsa to further explore how the same form could have its own identity or creed to form a collection. The same form was later cast in both aluminium and ceramic to explore the extent to which the range of materials used could lend themselves to a functional outcome.
