CAN COOK FOOD VENDING KIOSK

Ilsa was approached by Robbie Davison, director of Can Cook CIC to assist with the design of a unique branded street food vending kiosk to underpin a brand new food retail model with a social focus, selling a range of world foods across major city centres.

Through early discussion, Ilsa established that the design needed to be iconic and transportable. The kiosks were to be brought onto the street each day via a truck and taken away again at night to comply with planning law. Through a series of initial sketches Ilsa established concepts that would meet Robbies brief, a few collapsible iterations were trialled in CAD before the final design was developed to incorporate advertising and branding. This progressed to a range which was visually coherent but identifiable, relative to various food types and flavours.

The concept of this important social enterprise is to use the kiosks to employ ex offenders and unemployed graduates supported by a sales and customer service training academy. The vision is to have participants become expert vendors of street food which offers both an alternative range of cultural delicacies and healthy choices. Robbie is in the process of securing funding to realise the designs.
