Reinventing the surface of softwood. Ilsa developed these objects in collaboration with Stephen Rimmer Designs, who had realised a craft technique for enhancing the natural surface structure of wood.
The technique involved bleaching, scorching, abrasion and polishing. The concept for application involved consideration of a context where age and time might be appreciated visually. Bygone was thus born in a contemporary baroque aesthetic and trialed in a few versions.
